Who Got What? app for iPhone and iPad
Developer: Michael E. Byczek
First release : 18 Jul 2012
App size: 234.4 Kb
This app explains Illinois inheritance statutes so that you know who inherits your property (and whose property you will inherit) based on family relationship status. Included are scenarios for adoptions, civil unions, and children born out of wedlock.
It is important that all Illinois residents have a written, signed, and witnessed Will to avoid courts, judges, and lawyers from distributing your property to unknown or unwanted relatives.
Click the appropriate sliders to correspond to your family status and which relatives are still living or deceased. See what happens if certain individuals pass away without a Will under a variety of scenarios that correspond to marriage, children, siblings, parents, grandparents, and great-grandparents.
For example, set the sliders to your spouse, children, parents, and grandparents. Another scenario is not married without children and only your mother and two grandparents are still alive.
Inheritance statutes include grandparents, great-grandparents, and their descendants. For example, your parents are deceased, you were an only child, and your grandparents are also deceased. In such a scenario, your grandparents’ other children or grandchildren would inherit your property.
The developer, Michael E. Byczek, is licensed to practice law in Illinois. He has developed several software applications to write your own Will on an iPhone, iPad, iPod touch, and Mac.
